Great Season

The guys finished a great season this past week at Richmond. Although, we didn't acheive the state title that we were pursuing, this loss by no means defines the character, determination and work ethic of this team.

Few teams ever get the opportunity to play on the big stage and these seniors managed to do something that will long be remembered by the folks here in Buchanan County. Their accomplishments give them every reason to hold their head high.

Making it to the final four last year and pushing the eventual state champs to the wire was a wonderful experience. That experience laid the ground work for us to make it back to Richmond again this year. The Galax game was one of the most intense and focused games that these guys had played in four years and it showed on and off of the court. The determination that guided them to prevail and make it back to Richmond is a testimony to their belief in hard work and dedication. The East Mont. game was one of those games waiting for one team to make the key run at the right time, unfortunately for us, East Mont. made the game changing run late in the 4th quarter.

Not taking anything away from the Mustangs, they were a much improved team from last year, but it could just as easily had been us in the finals as them. When it comes down to the final four, anything can happen and either of the final four teams could have one this thing in the end. Colonial Beach had a great run and it just goes to show you that whether you run and gun or slow it down and grind it out, any style can lay claim to the state title.

I would like to thank the parents of this years seniors for allowing myself and the coaching staff to work with such fine young men. I would like to thank the seniors for their commitment, hard work, dedication and relentless hustle for giving us another shot at a dream. You guys are the hardest working young men that I have ever been associated with and I sure am going to miss you in the future.

But if everything holds to form, I imagine that the family will still remain pretty tight in the years to come and I wish you nothing but the best that life has to offer.

God Bless,

Coach Moore
