Well, we are just over half way through the season and things are starting to shape up. The injury to Lucas has really changed our approach and the kids are really working hard. Trying to develop continuity with a new starting 5 is coming along slowly and I am hoping that we will find some rhythm on offense in the next couple of games.
So far, several players have contributed and are showing signs of improvement. J.D. has started twice for us and he has given us some quality minutes since Luke tore his ACL. Chris Hughes has had a couple of good games in which he made a big impact on the boards and in the scoring column. If Chris can eliminate turnovers and maintain double doubles we will remain competitive in the district.
Joe Mullins has also made huge strides in his game, Joe understands his role and he too has given us some good minutes. He will need to continue his progress, as he will be utilized more in the coming games, we are expecting Joe to play a solid role for us as we close out the regular season. Our other bench players, Cody Prater and Logan Cantrell are steadily improving and have shown the ability to play well with our starters, Cody brings a solid defensive presence to our team and Logan could be a huge 3 point threat for us off of the bench.
For now, the district is wide open and I don't expect the winner to be decided until the final game has been played. We just need to re-group and take care of business at home and steal a couple of more road wins to have a shot at #6.
